Are you and your dog ready to continue on your obedience journey and learn some new tricks? Come learn how to start your dog on Utility Obedience skills. This class is appropriate for any dog working obedience. The instructor will teach you and your dog to pivot to a glove, to pick up the glove and return the glove to you. Other “tricks” will be teaching the dog to indicate a scented container in preparation for doing articles, position changes in anticipation of doing the utility signal exercise, and a moving stand. Your dog does not need a perfect heel to practice these new “tricks”. Come join us while introducing some new tricks to both you and your dog. This class will meet 9/20, 9/27, 10/18, 10/25, 11/15, 11/22.
Attendees need to bring 4 or 6 foot leash, flat, slip, or martingale collar, lots of small treats and/or toy motivator. Prerequisites: The handler/dog should be working in any level of obedience. The dog should know basic commands: sit, down, stay at a distance, and heeling. Your dog should be able to work around other dogs.
You will need 3 appropriate-sized retrievable gloves (same type) and 5 small canisters (think Altoids) for your dog to practice the skills for this class. If you have them, please bring them to each class. If you'd like to purchase some, we will offer a "kit" that includes 3 painter gloves ($3) and 5 pre-drilled canisters ($5) at your first class. Be prepared to pay exact cash.
